Im trying to install xp on a laptop and have come across the error "windows did not find and hard disks on your computer"

this is a common error which i am solving by slipstreaming the drivers using nLite.

the problem is that i dont know what sata raid drivers i need. i have a gateway mt6707 laptop

You could try an automatic driver update utility. It will scan your system to identify the devices and then locate and download the proper drivers for each device. I use the one from here: http://www.pcdriverupdate.com Just download the free scan and see if it finds what you need.
