You gotta read the question closely. It does not ask which is a Solid State Disk (SSD), it simply asks which one is a Solid State Device...meaning no moving parts. A Memory module has no moving parts, while a CD Drive has a motor to turn the disks to be read by the laser which also moves.
References :
an ssd is an alternate for a hdd, both serving the same purpose but a ssd's capacity will be in a binary number (32gb, 64gb,128gb etc), a ssd has considerably faster seek times and is extremely more durable (making them desirable for laptops). disadvantages though are that an ssd will cost 25x for the same capacity and generally dont get above 256gb. answering your question though, a ssd is a memory module
References :
PS2s don't have Blu-ray drives, which means they can not read Blu-ray discs.

Duct tape has nothing to do with nothing.
References :
RAID with 1 drive would be pointless.

The whole point of RAID is to gang up multiple drives to act like a single drive, so you get a speed up due to the parallel seek action and also redundant storage if you opt for that.
References :
Your question looks very uncertain. On one side you are asking about life of hardware and on other providing extreme care and precautions...still let me tell you the life of the respective hardware will directly depend on its quality, its manufacturer. How can a dvd,cd be damaged, if no scratches occur? How can storage devices be damaged, if no viruses enter them? Had there been a certain life of the gadget, it would've been printed on it i.e Date of Expiry, Best before 5 years from manufacture...lol...
