Acer Aspire One A150-Ab or EeePC 901 Linux?

Well, the main differences are:

2.5 Hrs Battery VS 8 Hrs Battery
120GB Storage VS 20GB Storage
Mechanical HD VS Solid State Drive
Bigger Keyboard VS Smaller Keyboard
£215 VS £240 (amazon.co.uk)

Well?? Which one should be better for me?

go in for the acer A150

because it has:
1: crystal LCD vs the normal LCD
2: HDD less expensive to upgrade and SSD hdd
3: very reliable
4: Linux has problem with voice recording

Why do people run backups at night?

Is there still a good reason to run backups at night? Now that we have shadow copies and faster, higher performing servers, I am wondering if it’s better to run tape backups during the day when we can keep an eye on the backup process and change tapes for spanning if necessary?

People run backups at night because that is the time where there is the least amount of traffic on the computer/server.. So when they run the backup, it will have less effect on the server performance and the users will not notice it because they will most likely not be connected..

Any driver for Sata Raid Controller and Vista????

I am getting my Dell XPS ready for VISTA upgrade. As many of us know XP support will end very soon (January 2009) When I run the Vista Upgrade Advisor, it tells me that "…Intel® 82801ER SATA RAID Controller (on my motherboard - no card)… is no compatibility data available for this device. For more information, go to the device manufacturer’s website or Windows Marketplace, or contact seller (Dell)"….. I have contacted Dell XPS support, with no luck and no plan to get new drivers for VISTA. I found links on the internet which are no longer valid. Does any know of any driver anywhere that it is compatible with VISTA? Thank you
Thank you Don. It is at my own risk if I downloads the driver and install. No guarantee that it will fix the issue. I am extending this to see if anyone has done the same and had no issue after intalling the driver

What is the best antivirus for my Samsung nc10?

bear in mind, i only have 1gb ram and 160gb storage (what ever that means)but i know it’s not a lot to play around with.(I know very little about computers besides how to use them)

Can you give me a FREE solution?

Where can I download it from?

What else should i download (besides antivirus) that would make my netbook a hell of a lot cooler? (run better)

AVG

Avast

Both are free, Avast uses less system resources but has a steeper learning curve.

Is the Sims 2 compatible with my HP Mini 1000?

I have no idea how to tell.

Here is a link for the system requirements for the Sims 2:

http://compsimgames.about.com/od/thesims2faqs/f/systemrequireme.htm

Here are my computer’s technical specifications:

Operating System: Genuine Windows XP Home SP3, Mobile Internet Experience Linux
Processor: Intel Atom N270 (1.6 GHz)
Chipset: Intel 945GSE + ICH7M, 533MHz FSB
Memory: DDR2 SDRAM, 533MHz, one SODIMM memory slot, supports up to 2GB (Windows XP restricted to 512MB or 1GB from HP due to Microsoft agreement)
Internal Storage: 60GB 4200 rpm PATA hard drive, 8GB/16GB Solid State Drive
External/Removable Storage: 2GB/4GB/8GB HP Mini Mobile drive (available with SSD model only)
Display: 8.9-inch diagonal WSVGA (1224 x 600) or 10.2-inch WSVGA "Infinity BrightView" display
Graphics: Intel GMA 950
Audio: High Definition Audio, stereos speakers, integrated stereo microphone, stereo headphone/line out, stereo microphone in
Wireless support: 802.11b/g, b/g, optional Bluetooth 2.1
Communications: 10/100 Ethernet
Expansion slots: Secure Digital (SD) slot
Ports and connectors: Two USB 2.0 ports, VGA, power connector, RJ-45/Ethernet, stereo headphone/line out, stereo microphone in, VGA webcam
Input device: 92% full-sized keyboard, touchpad with scroll zone

Dimensions (H x W x D): 0.99 (at front) x 10.3 x 6.56 inches
Weight: 2.25 lbs (with 3-cell battery and 8.9" display, 2.4 lbs with 3-cell battery and 10.2" display.
Power: 3-cell 26WHr Lithium-polymer battery (optional 6-cell 52WHr Lithium-polymer battery
Warranty: Limited 1-year and 90-day warranty options available, depending on country, Extended warranty available

Well the three things to look at are

RAM (you have 512MB minimum, the mimimum requirements are also 512MB )
Processor speed (you have 1.6, the minimum requirement a 1.5 GHz processor, so you just scrape by)
Graphics card.

The graphics are where your machine falls down. You don’t technically have a card but an integrated graphics chip, which is not a card but just a chip soldered to the motherboard designed to do the job of a graphics card…it will allow you to watch videos and surf the net but unfortunately it is not suitable for playing 3D games like the Sims 2. If you look at this chart http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Requirements/MTS2_Recommendations
your chip is first on the list and gets a definite ‘no’ for compatibility with any of the Sims 2 games.
I would not risk playing the game with that chip, because you might permanently damage your motherboard. Instead think about getting one of the Sims 2 Stories games like Castaway Stories or Life Stories etc, which are designed for laptops with low-end or integrated graphics.

What are required to install window xp on intel-based comp?

1) a SCSI CD ROM drive
2) a tape backup device
3) a nerwork interface card
4) none of the above

thank you

you can install windows from a CD/DVD drive or a network connection, Ive never seen it done from a tape drive.

installing from a network connection is a bit fiddly.. you need to get the system awake and able to talk to the network which isn’t for the faint hearted

Im pretty certain you can also copy the installation media onto a USB memory stick and run it form that
